This key position involves managing over 20 production employees in a highly complex medium volume manufacturing environment. This role is critical to the success of our business. The main emphasis is on achieving world-class levels of on-time delivery, quality of product and a high productivity level from the workforce in a technical environment.

 

Specific Duties:

 

  • Supervises production personnel across all activities, according to their abilities and the different production needs of the MPS (Master Production Schedule).
  • Reviews the MPS with planning team and discuss necessary adjustments.
  • Works with other Supervisors to maintain and alter priorities in order to achieve the MPS for all manufacturing activities.
  • Works with other functions (e.g. Maintenance, process, QC and R&D) to maintain workflow and achieve the MPS.
  • Verify the production group efficiency with the key performance indicators (KPI) and implement adjustments when necessary.
  • Ensures compliance to procedures, inspection and test criteria by personnel.
  • Organizes and follows-up on the training programs and the improvement of the production personnel.
  • Controls the time and the yield of the production personnel.
  • Performs capability analysis to propose headcount changes and to prepare the related justification needed for hiring approvals.
  • Participates in the selection process of new employees.
  • Communicate on a daily basis with the production team and perform documented one on one meetings with the direct employees on a regular basis.
  • Develops and evaluates subordinates using the PMP performance appraisal and goal-setting tool.
  • Communicates the results of the activity’s output and issues through team discussions, reports and presentations.
  • Continuously reviews practices to optimize throughputs and increase efficiency.
  • Responsible for the safety of subordinates via timely health and safety inspections, safety policy administration and providing personal protection equipment as required.
  • Assumes the role of Emergency Plan Coordinator for III-V manufacturing personnel with assistance from the Emergency team.
  • Works with Continuous Improvement (CI) activity on improvement projects.
  • Coordinates the 5S program for the III-V Wafer Fab
  • Performs other related duties as required.

 

 

 

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

 

  1. College diploma in Chemistry, Physics or Electronics, or equivalent experience.
  2. Five (5) years demonstrated proficiency as Technician III-E (wafer fabrication) or three to five (3 – 5) years of supervision experience (preferably in wafer fabrication activity).
  3. Proven ability to train and lead technicians and operators.
  4. Works well in team-oriented environment.
  5. Capacity analysis software knowledge an asset.
  6. Strong organization and management skills.
  7. Capacity to adapt in a continuously changing environment.
  8. Available to work on night shift.
  9. Good communication skills in both English and French spoken and written.
