Job Outline:
This Metal Process Engineer role is responsible for developing and optimizing machining processes, programming CNC machines, and ensuring the efficient production of high-precision parts.
Key responsibilities:

Create and optimise CNC programs to manufacture precision components.

Collaborate with machinists to test & adjust programs to ensure optimum efficiency and quality.

Select the appropriate tooling, work centres, and materials for each job.

Maintain machine specification, part setup and programming documentation.

Define fixture design requirements to Jig & Tool team for metal component manufacture.

Create routings within Microsoft Dynamics AX which will include materials, work centres, tooling, CNC/CMM programs, and process time details.

Provide proactive engineering support to resolve production stoppages & issues.

Provide design for manufacturability (DFM) feedback to Design and Engineering teams on both new & existing products.

Stay up to date with the latest tooling, machines, techniques & software.

Proactively carry out process improvement activities.

Participate & lead in problem-solving sessions to develop action plans to prevent re-occurrences of production non-conformances.
Personal Specification
It is essential that all candidates have the following:
-
A high standard of formal education (preferably to HNC level or equivalent).
-
Precision machinist time served background.
-
Fully competent in the use of PC’s (Microsoft Office Applications).
-
Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
-
A methodical approach to working, proven attention to detail & a passion for engineering.

Proven ability to work under pressure to achieve demanding objectives.
The following attributes are considered desirable, but not essential for the role:
-
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.

Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (preferably FeatureCAM, PowerMill or Creo).

Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
-
Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar ERP systems.
