Qioptiq designs and manufactures market leading Optronic solutions for Defense & Aerospace applications. To further expand our portfolio Qioptiq is seeking an exceptional individual to support the development and delivery of our expanding range of next-generation products and technologies.
We are presently seeking an International Business Development Director who will report to the VP, Business Development, Advanced Optronic and Electronic Systems within the Defense & Aerospace (D&A) Segment. This individual will be responsible for driving bookings and revenue growth, design win capture, and continued market growth globally for the D&A Segment, focusing on Optronic Systems product lines while cross selling between product families. The successful person will be based in Europe and will be working with our global customer base as part of our global business development team. Flexible working location options are available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Have proven and demonstrable experience growing business within the optics and EO/IR subsystems and systems arena
- Develop, lead and execute strategic and tactical business capture plans partnering with Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Finance and other key stakeholders
- Have strong bid and proposal experience within an engineering or manufacturing process environment
- Have strong EO/IR market knowledge, to include a current customer base and contact network
- Have experience with, and a strong understanding of funnel management principles for driving business growth
- In partnership with Engineering, assist in development of a strategic product capability roadmaps and provide guidance on IR&D initiatives that yield superior returns
- Maintain knowledge and expertise in relevant products and international markets; monitor competitive activity and international market trends; partner with Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Finance and other key stakeholders to develop strategic and tactical strategies to counter competition and exploit market trends
- Maintain and continually update Sales Force data, conduct monthly prospects reviews, and maintain the bookings forecast for areas of responsibility
- Serve as initial point of contact on issues within the region, coordinate evaluation and input by appropriate internal and external stakeholders
- Support core business process including the D&A BD Business Winning Process (to include monthly Business Winning Reviews (BWRs)), D&A Segment annual 5-YR strategic planning cycle (entitled Strategic Goal Setting (SGS)), weekly forecast updates, and supporting the D&A Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process
- Play a key role in evaluating, managing, and refining the distributor/channel partner relationships, and work alongside the key account managers on opportunity captures
Personal Specification:
It is essential that all candidates have the following:
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Management, Marketing or similar
- 8 years of experience in the Defense and Aerospace Industry (5 in Business Development / Business Winning roles).
- In depth knowledge of optics technology and manufacture.
- Position requires extensive travel approximately 50% - 75% of the time
- Position includes a performance incentive plan which potentially provides for an annual bonus (based on experience).
