Our facility in Singapore has key functions in research and development, procurement, sales and finance for our Lighting and Detection business lines, in addition to key functions related to our Optics Manufacturing capabilities.

This site produces optical lenses such as spherical, aspherical and plano optics, with large machine shop capabilities and expertise in optical coating and assembly. Our photonic products and solutions serve a wide range of markets and applications in the areas of medicine, life science, industrial manufacturing, defense, and aerospace, as well as research and development. 

We are presently seeking a Test Equipment Engineer who responsible for the development, installation and technical support of new, transferred and existing customized testers for product testing and qualification within the Life Science, Semiconductor and IOA divisions.


Main responsibilities:

  • Design and develop optical metrology test equipment to perform verification tests in accordance with requirement specifications. This includes coordinating fabrication of test equipment frames and components, mechanical assemblies, electrical layouts, motion control components, and integration of light sources, optical components/assemblies, and detectors/cameras.
  • Support the installation, maintenance, and repair of custom factory test equipment used in complex projects. These may include test systems transferred from other sites (e.g., QPKG), requiring familiarity with site-specific procedures.
  • Lead all aspects of IQ, OQ, and PQ for the transfer and installation of new customized factory test equipment. Support the collection and analysis of initial test data, summarize results, and verify/validate test results for accuracy and precision.
  • Perform preventive maintenance of test equipment in accordance with established manuals, procedures, and work instructions, including annual calibration. Ensure proper record-keeping and documentation in the equipment tracking system.
  • Troubleshoot and repair test equipment malfunctions by diagnosing faults and performing root-cause analysis in accordance with troubleshooting and repair instructions.
  • Ensure all equipment documentation (maintenance manuals, troubleshooting guides, and repair instructions) is properly released for production use.
  • Implement safety procedures and workplace rules, including proper use of PPE, lockout/tagout practices, and electrical safety. Operate and maintain equipment and tools in line with manufacturer and company guidelines. Apply proper lifting techniques and maintain ergonomic practices.
  • Perform special projects and other assigned duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in developing or supporting testers in the optical or opto-electronics industry.
  • Proficient in general electrical layout and installation; ability to design basic electrical schematics and generate single-line diagrams.
  • Experienced in the installation and use of motion control and photonic test equipment (e.g., light sources, detectors) and standard test tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and data loggers.
  • Strong knowledge of LabVIEW programming and interfacing with various hardware components (e.g., cameras, motors).
  • Familiarity with standard LabVIEW design patterns (e.g., state machine, queued message handler) and at least one additional programming language.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical layout and installation; ability to design basic frames and mounting structures to integrate optical tables and motion stages, and collaborate with vendors for assembly.
  • Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Proficient in data collection, statistical analysis, and report generation; experience applying Six Sigma principles preferred.
