Our facility in Singapore has key functions in research and development, procurement, sales and finance for our Lighting and Detection business lines, in addition to key functions related to our Optics Manufacturing capabilities.
This site produces optical lenses such as spherical, aspherical and plano optics, with large machine shop capabilities and expertise in optical coating and assembly. Our photonic products and solutions serve a wide range of markets and applications in the areas of medicine, life science, industrial manufacturing, and aerospace, as well as research and development.
We are presently seeking a Senior R&D Engineer that will continue to support both existing operation and new NPI projects.
Main responsibilities:
- Lead the development and design of plasma lighting products (e.g., Cermax, Excimer lamps), collaborating with the Pleasanton team and coordinating with the Batam Manufacturing team to drive products into mass production.
- Conduct developmental research and competitor analysis to support future technical roadmaps, conceptual design, and research activities.
- Provide technical leadership to manage product and process timelines, ensuring critical paths, objectives, and targets are met.
- Define and develop manufacturing processes by studying requirements, researching options, and adapting methods and equipment.
- Support Batam production through equipment setup and parameter optimization to ensure manufacturability, applying Measurement System Analysis (MSA/GR&R), Process Failure Mode Analysis, space planning, and equipment layout (Lean concepts).
- Enhance manufacturing efficiency (capacity and productivity) by analyzing and planning workflow and equipment layouts.
- Manage and lead customer sample requests.
- Collaborate with the Batam team to ensure product and process quality (yield) by developing reliable methods, process capability studies, and standardized documentation (WI, FMEA, PCP).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.
- Ensure effective communication and information flow with Pleasanton management.
- Travel regularly to Batam to support new product introduction (NPI) and provide on-site production support.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field; an advanced degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a related industry or role (preferred).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes for plasma arc lighting devices.
- Experience in power electronics and control circuits.
- Good understanding of EMI/EMC considerations in lighting systems.
- Proficiency in using CAD software.
- Experience with DFMEA / PFMEA is desirable.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma concepts and the ability to apply them in projects.
- Strong critical thinking skills, with good verbal and written communication abilities to convey technical concepts; collaborative and able to work closely with operations engineers on the product line.
- Willingness to travel weekly to Batam to oversee production activities and support NPI projects.
