Job Description:
- Develop and design manufacturing process workflows for ultra-clean product assembly in semiconductor and life science applications.
- Develop, transfer, and industrialize new manufacturing processes for the production of optical fiber assemblies and related products.
- Implement customer cleanliness requirements and cleanroom process specifications to ensure stable and repeatable production.
- Optimize assembly processes and manufacturing procedures to improve productivity, quality, efficiency, and cost.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and mentor team members to enhance assembly processes and operational excellence.
- Translate customer requirements into practical engineering solutions, design specifications, and detailed manufacturing documentation.
- Create conceptual and detailed engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), routing, assembly instructions, and supporting documentation for prototype and production builds.
- Support prototype assembly, product validation, testing, and the transition from development to mass production.
- Conduct tolerance stack-up and GD&T analyses to ensure product manufacturability and compliance with design requirements.
- Review and maintain engineering documentation, including Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), engineering data packs, DFMEA, and other product lifecycle documents.
- Maintain accurate BOMs, routing information, and master data within the ERP/PLM system.
- Prepare, maintain, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and other technical documentation.
- Translate engineering drawings and technical documents from German to English (where applicable) and upload documentation into local systems.
- Support design reviews, technical discussions, project meetings, and risk assessments.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, Process Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales, and Marketing teams to ensure successful product development and manufacturing.
- Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements and quality management systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 13485, and AS9100D.
- Provide project documentation and administrative support for engineering and R&D activities as required.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- At least 3–5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or product development within the semiconductor, precision engineering, photonics, optics, or related manufacturing industries.
- Experience in optical fiber assembly or precision optics manufacturing is highly preferred.
- Experience in new product introduction (NPI), manufacturing process development, and process transfer to production.
- Hands-on experience in maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs), routing, master data, and engineering documentation.
- Experience supporting prototype builds, product validation, testing, and production ramp-up.
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles, engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Familiarity with 2D/3D CAD software and engineering document control practices.
- Understanding of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), DFMEA, and product lifecycle documentation.
- Knowledge of contamination control and cleanroom manufacturing practices is an advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings; proficiency in translating technical documents from German to English is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional and international teams.
