Our facility in Singapore has key functions in research and development, procurement, sales and finance for our Lighting and Detection business lines, in addition to key functions related to our Optics Manufacturing capabilities.

This site produces optical lenses such as spherical, aspherical and plano optics, with large machine shop capabilities and expertise in optical coating and assembly. Our photonic products and solutions serve a wide range of markets and applications in the areas of medicine, life science, industrial manufacturing, defense, and aerospace, as well as research and development. 

We are presently seeking an Assembly Mechanical Engineer that responsible for designing and qualifying tooling/fixtures, and acting as a technical liaison between suppliers, manufacturing teams, and internal departments to ensure product performance, quality, cost, and delivery requirements are met. 

Main responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update the Bill of Materials (BOM), routing, and master data to ensure accuracy.
  • Document and track project progress, managing both technical and administrative records.
  • Translate engineering drawings from German to English and upload them to local systems.
  • Collaborate with assembly process engineers to create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other required documentation.
  • Convert customer requirements into practical design specifications and detailed designs.
  • Develop conceptual and final design drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions for prototyping and production.
  • Support prototype assembly, testing, and transition to mass production.
  • Review and update engineering data packs and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) as needed.
  • Conduct tolerance analyses and GD&T stack-up analyses to ensure manufacturability.
  • Prepare and file documentation required for design, product safety (DFMEA), and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) and quality standards (ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO13485, AS9100D).
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and key project meetings.
  • Provide technical guidance to process, production, supply chain, and quality teams.
  • Supply technical information to support sales, marketing, and customer communications.
  • Provide general administrative support to the R&D team.

Requirements:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience maintaining and updating BOMs, routing, and master data systems for product development projects.
  • Skilled in documenting and tracking technical project progress, preparing status reports, and supporting cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in developing conceptual designs, generating detailed drawings, and preparing BOMs for prototypes.
  • Familiarity with assembly and verification testing of prototypes, including design transfer to production.
  • Proficient in conducting tolerance analyses (stack-up, GD&T) on mechanical assemblies to ensure manufacturability and compliance.
  • Strong administrative skills in organizing project files and regulatory documents for R&D teams.
  • Knowledge of BOM management, routing, and master data processes.
  • Proactive problem-solving and process improvement mindset.
