Our facility in Singapore has key functions in research and development, procurement, sales and finance for our Lighting and Detection business lines, in addition to key functions related to our Optics Manufacturing capabilities.

This site produces optical lenses such as spherical, aspherical and plano optics, with large machine shop capabilities and expertise in optical coating and assembly. Our photonic products and solutions serve a wide range of markets and applications in the areas of medicine, life science, industrial manufacturing, defense, and aerospace, as well as research and development. 

We are presently seeking a Production Supervisor that will provide leadership, supervise, coaching and support to the team. This role will drive operational excellence within the area to improve the workplace environment, delivery performance and drive continuous improvement to meet business goals.


Main responsibilities:

Health and Safety Compliance

  • Promote and enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and GEMBA’s to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Use internal reporting systems to raise hazards or near misses to reduce safety risks.
  • Investigate and report any workplace incidents or hazards.

Team Management

  • Supervise, motivate, coach and support the production team to achieve daily/weekly targets.
  • Ensure effective communication within the team and between departments.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and provide updates on production priorities.
  • Conduct RTWs (day of return) and performance reviews when records are sub-standard and manage through to 1st stage HR process.

Production Oversight

  • Oversee day-to-day production activities to ensure schedules and quality standards are met, measuring against OTS and PTD
  • Report to planning and Production Manager immediately when risks to delivery are found.
  • Monitor and adjust workflows to optimise efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure resources (materials, equipment, and staff) are allocated appropriately.
  • Work with planning to recover any products which may need enhanced focus to recover to OTD.
  • Effectively manage any transfers from R&D to production.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all products meet established quality standards before shipment.
  • Identify and address any quality issues promptly.
  • Implement corrective actions to resolve quality concerns using RCCA methods.
  • Audit the team to ensure adherence to internal processes and procedures.
  • Raise to the relevant tier any trends which are noticed to make the cross functional team aware to support investigations.

Training and Development

  • Cross train team members on production processes, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
  • Identify skill gaps and coordinate ongoing training opportunities.
  • Provide coaching and performance feedback to team members.

Problem-Solving and Decision-Making

  • Address and resolve production-related issues promptly, only escalating when all attempts have failed to give desired outcome.
  • Escalate complex problems to the appropriate managers or departments as needed.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency and output.

Record Keeping and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of production data, including output, scrap rates, and downtime.
  • Prepare and submit daily/weekly production reports – Feeding back any misses, what actions are required to recover and what support is needed.
  • Monitor and report on team performance metrics.

Collaboration with Other Departments

  • Work closely with maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Coordinate with planning and stores teams to ensure material availability.
  • Liaise with quality control and engineering teams to address production challenges.

General Support

  • Act as a point of contact for team queries and concerns.
  • Provide hands-on support during critical production periods or staff shortages.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture.
  • Demonstrate company values through leading by example.
  • Be prepared to move anywhere within the business to support business needs.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Manufacturing or equivalent.
  • Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, with hands-on experience in managing MRP system information (e.g., SAP).
  • Relevant knowledge and experience in manufacturing processes within a similar or related industry.
  • Experience in ISO 9001 standards and Quality Management Systems (e.g., MRB, quality control).
  • Flexible and adaptable to changes in work departments, procedures, and tasks, with the ability to perform overtime when required.
  • Strong willingness and ability to learn and develop.
  • Assertive yet diplomatic in approach.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
