Our facility in Singapore has key functions in research and development, procurement, sales and finance for our Lighting and Detection business lines, in addition to key functions related to our Optics Manufacturing capabilities.

This site produces optical lenses such as spherical, aspherical and plano optics, with large machine shop capabilities and expertise in optical coating and assembly. Our photonic products and solutions serve a wide range of markets and applications in the areas of medicine, life science, industrial manufacturing, defense, and aerospace, as well as research and development. 

Main responsibilities:

  • Mentor and develop a high-performing team focused on continuous improvement in mechanical, laser, and fiber assembly processes within a cleanroom environment.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt certification or above preferred).
  • Plan and manage engineering projects to meet budget, schedule, and performance targets.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for process-related issues, ensuring effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Oversee task planning, prioritize critical activities, and ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Implement engineering controls and training programs to maintain a zero-incident safety culture, including laser safety risk assessments and audits.
  • Monitor RFQ progress and ensure timely closure by tracking and reporting Turnaround Time (TAT).
  • Lead and ensure the successful execution of FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), FLP (First Lot Production), and FAI (First Article Inspection) to meet all customer and quality requirements.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for customer escalations, providing progress updates to management.
  • Ensure operational readiness and seamless handover of projects to production teams.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to drive manufacturable, high-quality product designs.
  • Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles to optimize quality, yield, and efficiency at every stage.
  • Lead process and testing strategy development for new product introductions (NPI) and participate in design reviews.
  • Prepare and document processes for production transfer, including risk assessments and tooling development.
  • Implement process controls and support technician training using tools such as SPC, 8D, FMEA, and DOE.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance yield, improve efficiency, and reduce waste.
  • Serve as a measurement systems expert and lead the team in achieving operational excellence.
  • Ensure all processes, documentation, and equipment comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards relevant to life sciences and semiconductor manufacturing.

Requirements:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Optical, Materials, Mechanical, or Precision Engineering, or in Physics/Chemistry.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in process engineering within a technical or manufacturing environment — ideally in mechanical, optical, or laser cleanroom manufacturing — including at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven experience leading teams in optical, laser, or fiber product development and manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated success in executing process improvement projects using DOE, 8D, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience in Design for Manufacture (DFM), New Product Introduction (NPI), and process development.
  • Experience commissioning test and measurement systems for mechanical, laser, or fiber assembly products.
  • Strong understanding of process control, quality assurance systems, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience leading customer communications, technical discussions, and escalations.
  • Familiar with ISO9001, ISO14001, and AS9100 standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of part number generation, engineering change control, and document management processes.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams, lead capital projects, and drive change in a production environment.
