Our facility in Mississauga, Ontario has key positions in Sales, Marketing, Research & Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Support and other disciplines. Operating since 1984, this site specializes in the design, development, manufacturing and marketing of a broad portfolio of innovative LED and Lamp technology. The Toronto facility serves a variety of markets such as electronics, optoelectronics, digital printing, general assembly, coatings, and medical device manufacturing, as well as endoscopy, bioscience research, microscopy and instrumentation.
We are presently seeking a Production and Service Supervisor II that will be responsible for supporting the Manufacturing Manager in coordinating production activities and directly supervises the Technical Service team. The position ensures production schedules, service repairs, and customer commitments are met by effectively managing resources, resolving technical issues, and maintaining clear communication across teams.
Main responsibilities:
- Production and Operations Support
- Assist manufacturing manager with scheduling and prioritizing daily/weekly/monthly production plans
- Work with Manufacturing Manager and Planner to organize human and material resources to meet shipment requirements
- Participate in production meetings and maintain focus on backlog, service, and customer deadlines
- Perform various production control planning responsibilities as required to support operational objectives
- Act on Manufacturer Manager’s behalf in their absence
- Technical Service Leadership
- Provide direct supervision and leadership to the Technical Service Team
- Lead root cause investigations and repair activities for RMAs, ensuring turnaround time and quality metrics are met
- Communicate recurring or systemic product and process issues to the management team with recommended corrective actions
- Serve as a point of contact for customers, providing telephone and email technical support and coordinating in-house repair services, including quotations, order processing, case creation, and troubleshooting
- Ensure all technical service documentation (repair manuals, service procedures, and product information bulletins) is completed accurately and on schedule to support new product launches and product changes
- Assist the Manufacturing Manager in developing and maintaining pricing models for service and replacement parts
- People Leadership & Development
- Provide ongoing feedback to Manufacturing Manager on team performance; write and deliver performance reviews for direct reports
- Train team members in specific tasks, including product knowledge, processes, and quality requirements
- Work with management to address employee relations issues, including coaching and counseling employees whose performance or conduct does not meet company expectations
- Lead by example and consistently uphold company values, policies, procedures, and workplace standards
- Communication & Continuous Improvement
- Communicate daily with management and cross-functional teams regarding production status, quality concerns, risks and operational issues
- Work with manager to resolve employee relations issues and counsel employees if their work or attitude does not meet company expectations
- Run and participate in tiered accountability meetings. Take ownership and accountability for assigned work areas, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency
- Collaborate with technical staff on process improvements, new process development, and implementation initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of business needs
Requirements
- 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably electronics manufacturing) with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory position
- College or university degree in operations management or related field
- Working experience with an MRP system; including elements of production planning, scheduling, inventory management and work orders creation
- Computer literate with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Experience in manufacturing, production management, production planning, or supporting manufacturing production planning process. Technical service experience an asset.
- Knowledge of planning, scheduling and forecasting principles
- Experience in leading a team and conflict resolution
- Team player who is also capable of working independently and unsupervised
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a diverse workforce
- Ability to work in fast changing environment
- Ability to work under pressure
- Experience working in an ISO9001, 14001, 13485 certified, and/or FDA QSR compliant environment is an asset
