Our facility in Mississauga, Ontario has key positions in Sales, Marketing, Research & Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Support and other disciplines. Operating since 1984, this site specializes in the design, development, manufacturing and marketing of a broad portfolio of innovative LED and Lamp technology. The Toronto facility serves a variety of markets such as electronics, optoelectronics, digital printing, general assembly, coatings, and medical device manufacturing, as well as endoscopy, bioscience research, microscopy and instrumentation.
The Mississauga facility is an FDA registered Contract Medical Device Manufacturer.
We are presently seeking a Plant Manager that will be accountable for safe, compliant, and efficient end‑to‑end manufacturing operations. This role leads daily production, continuous improvement, cost control, quality assurance, maintenance, materials planning, and workforce development to meet customer, financial, and compliance objectives. The Plant Manager sets the operational strategy, builds high‑performing teams, and ensures alignment with the VP, Operations NA & Continuous Improvement and corporate goals.
Main Responsibilities
Operational Leadership: Own daily production performance (output, OEE, schedule adherence, first‑pass yield) and deliver against monthly/quarterly targets. Lead the Supply Chain, Production, Quality and Mechanical Engineering team.
Safety, Compliance & Quality: Champion a safety-first culture in compliance with Ontario’s OHSA and internal EHS policies; lead hazard assessments, corrective actions, and incident investigations.
People Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop Operations Supervisors; set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
Financial & KPI Ownership: Manage plant P&L elements (labor, materials, scrap, maintenance, utilities); deliver against budget and cost‑per‑unit targets.
Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean/CI (5S, value stream mapping, SMED, Kaizen, visual management, standard work).
Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Leveraging cross‑department expertise to resolve manufacturing bottlenecks, improve lead-times, and support customer delivery commitments.
Requirements
- 5-10+ years’ experience in managing a high-tech manufacturing facility
- 5-10 years’ experience in managing customer service, service repair, global procurement, quality, warehousing, manufacturing engineering, document control
- Post-Secondary Diploma in Engineering and/or Operations Management is required
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- MRP or equivalent Material Requirements Planning software.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Concepts or Theory of Constraints.
- Strong knowledge and skills in strategic planning, program implementation and evaluation, performance measurement, budgeting, and information systems.
- Solid knowledge of application legislation and health and safety requirements.
- Skilled in prioritizing multiple directives within changing work demands.
- Ability to communicate with all organizational levels.
- Skilled in conflict management and resolution.
- Skilled in supplier negotiation capabilities.
- Experience working in an ISO9001, 14001, 13485 certified, and/or FDA QSR compliant environment is an asset.
