Our facility in Manila, Philippines has been operating since 1996 with key functions in Design and Development, Engineering, Manufacturing and other disciplines. This site specializes in product design, process development and mass production of Photodiodes, Photodiode Arrays and High-Performance Sensors. These product technologies are primarily for LiDAR applications such as autonomous vehicles and range finding, as well as safety and security applications including smoke detection and luggage scanning.
We are presently seeking for Equipment Engineering Technician who shall be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and continuously improving customized automated manufacturing equipment to achieve high equipment availability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Main Responsibilities:
- The Sustaining Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and continuously improving customized automated manufacturing equipment to achieve high equipment availability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- This role supports daily production operations, executes preventive and corrective maintenance, and drives equipment improvements to optimize Availability, MTTR, MTBF, MTTC, and overall maintenance cost. The technician will collaborate closely with Equipment Engineers, Production, and Vendors to sustain stable manufacturing output.
Requirements:
- 3–5+ years’ experience in sustaining or maintaining automated manufacturing equipment.
- Diploma/Certificate in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field.
- Registered Master Electrician is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with: Preventive Maintenance (PM) execution and optimization, Breakdown response and root cause troubleshooting, Reliability or improvement activities on existing equipment.
- Experience working with customized, non-standard, or oshore (China-built) machines.
- Experience in production-critical environments requiring fast recovery and minimal downtime.
Technical Skills:
Mechanical

- Maintenance and improvement of Linear guides, ball screws, cams, bearings, belts, and precision assemblies.
- Ability to identify mechanical wear trends and failure patterns
Electrical
- Preventive inspection of:
- Power distribution, control wiring, relays, contactors
- Ability to prevent repeat electrical failures through corrective improvements

- Photoelectric, inductive, proximity, and vacuum sensors
Sensors & Field Devices (PLC‑Integrated)
- Strong understanding of PLC‑connected field devices:
- Photoelectric, inductive, proximity, and vacuum sensors
- Ability to:
- Verify sensor logic at PLC level, not just physical replacement
- Troubleshoot false triggers, noise, and signal instability
· Knowledge of sensor redundancy and error‑proofing practices
Motion & Automation Control
- Practical experience with:

- Servo motors, AC & DC motors
- Servo drives and motion controllers

- Ability to interpret:

- Homing logic and motion sequences
- Encoder feedback, limit conditions, and torque alarms

- Support motion-related automation improvements to:

- Reduce positioning errors

Pneumatics
- PM and improvement actions for:
- Air leaks, sluggish cylinders, pressure instability
- Ability to reduce cycle loss and unplanned stops
PLC & Control Systems (STRONG REQUIREMENT)
- Hands-on experience with industrial PLC platforms, such as:
- Keyence (VT/KV Studio)
- Mitsubishi (GX Works)
- Omron (CX / Sysmac)
- Capable of:
- Monitoring PLC logic and execution flow
- Tracing step-by-step machine sequences
- Diagnosing logic-based stoppages and dead conditions
- Strong understanding of:

- Inputs / Outputs (digital & analog)
- Interlocks, conditions, and safety logic
- Recipe-driven and parameter-based control

Vision / CCD Automation
- Familiarity with vision systems integrated with PLC logic
- Capable of:
- Diagnosing vision-related interlocks
- Supporting automation improvements to reduce false rejects
- Basic understanding of trigger logic, pass/fail signals, and handshake with PLC
Troubleshooting Capability
- Systematic troubleshooting focused on:

- Fast isolation of failure mode to reduce MTTR
- Identification of root causes to prevent recurrence

- Execute scheduled PMs per standard checklists
- Perform:
- Mechanical inspections and lubrication
- Electrical tightening and verification
- Sensor cleaning, alignment, and calibration
- Identify PM checklist gaps and recommend updates based on actual failure history
- Ensure PM quality to extend MTBF and avoid PM-induced failures
Improvement & Reliability Activities

- Participate in improvement initiatives to:
- Increase Availability
- Reduce MTTR
- Improve MTBF
- Reduce MTTC and maintenance cost
- Support:
- Redesign or reinforcement of weak mechanical parts
- Sensor upgrades or repositioning
- Cable management and protection improvements
- Assist in implementing:
- Error-proofing (poka-yoke)
- Preventive replacement strategies
- Provide feedback for design improvements on new or transferred equipment
- Participate in improvement initiatives to:
Software and Tools Software

- PLC monitoring software (Keyence / Mitsubishi / Omron / others)
- HMI parameter monitoring and adjustment
- PC-based control diagnostics and alarm review
Tools & Equipment

- Multimeter, clamp meter, basic oscilloscope
- Alignment and measurement tools
