We are currently seeking a Thin Film Technician to operate deposition systems to produce coated components.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Understands and promotes a safe environment.
  • Understands chemicals that are used throughout the lab and how to dispose of them.
  • Sets up tooling (installs spacers/tooling as needed) (help assembles backers) (knows how to locate tooling). 
  • Load/unload parts into chambers as needed.
  • Works with engineering to troubleshoot issues within our deposition process.
  • Performs design adjustments to meet spectral requirements.
  • Troubleshoots hardware – Understanding our hardware operation to communicate issues.
  • Able to read and comprehend prints and procedures for technical details and can communicate technical details to the engineering department.
  • Perform stress correction calculation (IBS only)
  • Understands advanced metrology concepts and how they pertain to their area.
  • Performs TF design adjustments (with engineering approval) using MacLeod software.)
  • Can perform all spectral scans per process.
  • Can perform advanced chamber recoveries.
  • Identifies process sheet errors.
  • Schedules preventative maintenance
  • Assist with the training of Tech I’s, II’s, and III’s
  • Can perform all levels of spectral scans.
  • Validates QC checks and can organize customer data packets.
  • Understands work centers and routings for product flow.
  • Works with engineering to suggest process corrections.
  • Leads and comes up with 6S activities.
  • Teamwork – works effectively with and leads teams.
  • Bead blasts tooling
  • Provides constructive guidance to Tech I & II.
  • May take on a lead role for a specific department project.
  • Lifting requirements, up to 60 pounds.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of Optics experience or related industry experience.
  • High School diploma or GEd preferred.
  • Attention to detail required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred
  • Proficient in basic math and problem-solving skills.

 

 

Pay Range: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour, depending on experience.

 

 

Our facility in Boulder, Colorado, has key functions in Research and Development, Operations, Production, and other disciplines. This facility specializes in the manufacturing of ultra-precision optical components, optical thin film coatings, and optical sub-assemblies for demanding applications in lasers, materials processing, instrumentation, life sciences, avionics, and defense.

This site offers capabilities that include substantial design and engineering resources, comprehensive optical fabrication and coating capabilities, advanced assembly technology, and an extensive in-house metrology lab.
