We are presently seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer that be responsbile ensuring externally provided products, materials, and services consistently meet quality, regulatory, and business requirements
Main responsibilities:
- Lead the qualification and approval of new suppliers, including supplier assessments, risk evaluations, validation activities, First Article Inspections (FAI), and implementation of supplier quality requirements.
- Develop and execute the supplier audit program based on supplier risk, quality performance, and business needs. Conduct supplier audits, manage findings, and verify implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Maintain supplier quality records, quality agreements, certifications, questionnaires, approved supplier status, and other supplier quality documentation within the Quality Management System.
- Manage supplier change requests, ensuring appropriate risk assessments, cross-functional reviews, approvals, and implementation controls are completed prior to release.
- Establish and maintain supplier quality requirements, specifications, and performance expectations in collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Operations.
- Assess supplier risk and maintain supplier segmentation, monitoring plans, and qualification status to ensure appropriate oversight of critical suppliers.
- Own the supplier scorecard process, including development of performance metrics, collection and analysis of quality data, identification of performance trends, and communication of supplier performance to stakeholders.
- Lead supplier development activities and improvement plans for underperforming, high-risk, or strategic suppliers to improve quality, delivery, process capability, and overall performance.
- Review, investigate, and manage supplier-related nonconformances, ensuring timely containment, disposition, root cause investigation, corrective action, and resolution of supplier quality issues.
- Review and process supplier deviations and concession requests, coordinating risk assessments, approvals, and implementation of appropriate controls.
- Issue and manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs), verifying root cause investigations, corrective actions, and effectiveness of implemented solutions.
- Monitor incoming inspection results, supplier defect rates, escapes, and quality trends to identify risks, prevent recurrence, and drive continuous improvement.
- Partner with suppliers, Manufacturing, Receiving Inspection, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations to resolve supplier quality issues impacting production, delivery, or customer requirements.
- Analyze supplier quality metrics and performance data to proactively identify risks, improvement opportunities, and suppliers requiring increased oversight, audit activity, or development plans.
- Support internal, customer, supplier, and certification audits and contribute to continuous improvement of supplier quality processes and Quality Management System effectiveness.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Quality, or a related technical role.
- Knowledge of quality systems and quality tools, including nonconformance management, root cause analysis, CAPA, risk assessment, or similar methodologies.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, assess risk, and make sound quality decisions.
- Ability to investigate quality issues and effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive resolution.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow issues through to completion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience supporting supplier qualification, supplier audits, supplier corrective actions (SCARs), or supplier performance management.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management system standards.
- Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI), incoming inspection, process validation, or process risk assessments.
- Experience using quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, MSA, 5 Why, or Ishikawa analysis.
- Experience with ERP systems, SAP, Power BI, Minitab, SQL, or similar business and quality analysis tools.
- Internal Auditor training or quality certifications such as CQE, CSQP, or ASQ certifications.

Pay Range: $85,000 - 105,000 per year, depending on experience.

This facility specializes in the manufacturing of ultra-precision optical components, optical thin film coatings and optical sub-assemblies for demanding applications in lasers, materials processing, instrumentation, life sciences, avionics, and defense.
This site offers capabilities that include substantial design and engineering resources, comprehensive optical fabrication and coating capabilities, advanced assembly technology and an extensive in-house metrology lab.
